Tea on the Green
Tea on the Green brings together influences from great cuisines around the world that have come to Britain across the centuries and, in the afternoons, we celebrate the great British tradition of Tea Time. We have three dining areas; outside on the traffic-free cobbled patio, a downstairs dining area where you get a real feeling of this 500 year-old building, and a more formal upstairs dining room with a lovely view of the cathedral (and a less lovely view of the demolition and building works happening at the burned down Royal Clarence Hotel). We provide excellent waiter service to your table.
Everything is prepared to order using local ingredients and our menu includes a curry, fish dish of the day, beef pie, omelettes, salads, bangers and mash, rarebits, panini and platters for grazing. On Sundays we offer Sunday Roast which is reputed to be the best in Exeter. “Sunday Lunch at Tea on the Green was magnificent (and inexpensive)”. The Times, August 2016. Our meats are from local, free-range farms and delivered directly to us by the farmer. We can see one of the farms from our upstairs dining room; it is that local. We have an extensive gluten-free and vegetarian range of both savoury and desserts. For children, we offer smaller portions of our menu and tailor the price to the size. For our cream teas, our scones come out of the oven at 2.30pm and are served with Cornish clotted cream and jams made by a local family producer in Willand, and a farmer’s wife in the nearby Blackdown Hills.

Our wine list includes top quality Riojas, a refreshing New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Malbec, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Cote du Rhone, some delightful Spanish Rose wines and Kenton Estate wines from just outside Exeter.
Most of our beers and ciders are from Devon and Cornwall brewers.
Our gin menu includes a choice of fine local and imported gins.
We have been making espresso based coffees since 1995 and our own blend is roasted for us by DJ Miles in Porlock, North Somerset. They also blend our loose-leaf teas.
We give 1% of our profit to Medecins Sans Frontieres.
